Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 22, 2026

Thank you for reading Scanheritage. This page explains how information is handled when you visit scanheritage.org or contact us. The operator (“we”) can be contacted about these matters at [email protected].

What happens when you browse

Basic technical information reaches us whenever you open a page, including IP address, browser and device characteristics, the address you requested and the page that referred you. We look at it to resolve errors and to protect the site from abuse.

Where switched on, cookies and similar technologies help the site remember choices, estimate how many people read each page, show and measure ads, and credit affiliate partners when a visit comes from one of their links.

Preferences and signals

Cookie controls sit in your browser, where you can allow, limit or clear them. Doing so can alter how some pages behave. We follow applicable rules on opt-out preference signals, and you may also use opt-out tools provided by advertising and analytics services.

Writing to us and outside services

Writing to [email protected] shares your email address and message with us. We use that to read, reply and, where appropriate, correct or improve an article. Avoid including passwords, bank details or anything you would not want kept on file.

We do not rent, trade or sell the personal details you share when writing to us.

Any newsletter signup collects an email address and passes it to the service that delivers our mail. We may see summary statistics about opens and clicks. Use the unsubscribe option to stop messages; we then keep only what is needed to remember that request.

We use outside vendors for infrastructure, analytics, ads, email and embedded media. When an embed loads, your browser may talk directly to the vendor. We may also disclose information to meet legal duties or protect people and the site. Other sites have their own rules.

Retention, children and changes

How long we keep something varies: operational logs for a limited time, correspondence while it may be useful, and opt-out details for as long as they are needed. We may preserve data longer to comply with law or resolve disagreements.

Where figures are combined so that nobody can be picked out, they may be retained for long-term analysis of how the site is used.

Individuals in many regions can ask to see, correct, delete or transfer their data and can object to certain uses or opt out of advertising-related sharing. Make requests at [email protected]. We might check who you are before acting, and an authorised agent may also write for you.

Our content is not designed for children under 13 and we make no effort to collect their information. Should a child’s details reach us, please notify [email protected] and we will act to remove them.

Protecting your information matters to us, although we cannot warrant that it will never be accessed improperly. Some vendors work across borders, so information can be transferred to other jurisdictions with safeguards that the law requires.

This policy is reviewed occasionally and may be edited. The effective date marks the current version, and we will add notice where regulations call for it. If you keep using the website after an update, the revised policy applies to you.
